Top Speed to re-launch Formula 4 Australian Championship
Top Speed, the organisation responsible for the current success of the flourishing Asia and Middle East-based junior single seater championships, will re-launch the Formula 4 Australian Championship Certified by FIA in 2024, with five rounds; four in Australia and a season finale at Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia.
Also organiser of FIA Formula 4 UAE and South East Asia, and the FIA Formula Regional Middle East Championship, Top Speed will manage the category and supply the Tatuus F4 T421 GEN2; powered by an Abarth engine and used in all major Formula 4 Championships worldwide.
The 2024 Formula 4 Australian champion will be eligible to earn 12 all-important FIA Super License points, the credits so crucial to young talents climbing the FIA driver development ladder towards Formula 1.
FIA Formula 4 last contested a national championship series in Australia from 2015 to 2019, and the 2024 season will get underway on May 4-5 at The Bend Motorsport Park in South Australia.
The championship will follow the proven principle of maximising track time – with three races held at each round – yet keeping costs as low as feasible while running the series to the highest international organisational standards. With each driver competing in identical machinery, the level playing field created allows talent to outshine financial wherewithal.
As with all series in Australia, the Formula 4 Australian Championship will enjoy the support of Motorsport Australia, which will provide judicial assistance at each event along with providing the opportunity to be part of the Shannons Speed Series in August next year.
